We and our service providers (including our WordPress/WooCommerce hosting and e-commerce infrastructure, and any analytics providers) use cookies, pixels, local storage, and similar technologies to operate the Site, remember your preferences and login state, process payments, and understand how the Service is used.
- Strictly necessary cookies: required for core functionality such as login sessions and checkout/cart functionality (WooCommerce).
- Functional/preference cookies: remember settings such as your course progress or display preferences.
- Analytics cookies: help us understand aggregate usage patterns.

Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies. If you disable cookies, some features of the Service (such as staying logged in or completing checkout) may not function properly. Where required by law, we will present a cookie consent banner allowing you to manage non-essential cookies.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
- Create, maintain, and secure your account;
- Process subscription payments, renewals, and one-time purchases, and to manage billing and invoicing;
- Provide, personalize, maintain, and improve the Service, including course progress tracking;
- Communicate with you about your account, transactions, customer support requests, and (where you have opted in or as otherwise permitted by law) marketing and promotional content;
- Monitor and analyze usage and trends to improve the Service and develop new content and features;
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent transactions, unauthorized access, and other illegal or policy-violating activity;
- Comply with applicable legal obligations, enforce our Terms and Conditions, and protect our rights and the rights of our users.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with the following categories of recipients:
- Service providers and processors: our website hosting provider, WordPress/WooCommerce platform providers and plugin services, payment processor, email/communications platform, and analytics providers, each of whom is authorized to use your information only as necessary to provide services to us.
- Payment processing: payment card details you submit at checkout are transmitted to and processed by our third-party payment processor, who acts as an independent controller/processor of that information subject to its own privacy policy.
- Business transfers: if we are involved in a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
- Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required to do so by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
- With your consent: we may share information for other purposes with your consent or at your direction.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you the Service, comply with our legal obligations (including tax and accounting requirements related to subscription billing), resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed for these purposes, we will delete or de-identify it, except where retention is required by law.
7. Data Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure, including reliance on our hosting provider’s and payment processor’s security infrastructure. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account password.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Any aviation- or STEM-themed educational content designed with children in mind is intended to be accessed and used by a parent, guardian, or educator through their own adult account, and any use by a child is expected to occur under that adult’s supervision using materials the adult has downloaded, printed, or otherwise made available.
If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information directly from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete that information as promptly as reasonably possible. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information directly, please contact us at maddy@therooproject.com.
9. Your Rights and Choices
9.1 Access, Correction, and Deletion
You may review and update certain account information at any time by logging into your account. You may also contact us at hayden@therooproject.com to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, subject to certain exceptions permitted by law (for example, information we must retain for tax, billing, or legal compliance purposes).
9.2 Marketing Communications
You may opt out of receiving promotional emails from us by following the unsubscribe instructions included in those emails, or by contacting us directly. Even if you opt out of marketing communications, we may still send you transactional or account-related communications (such as billing receipts or service updates).
9.3 State Privacy Rights
Depending on your state of residence, you may have additional rights under applicable state privacy laws (for example, the right to know what personal information we have collected, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of certain sharing or “sale” of personal information, as those terms are defined by applicable law).
9.4 Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” signal. Because there is no common industry standard for how to respond to such signals, our Service does not currently respond differently based on a detected Do Not Track signal.
10. Third-Party Links and Services
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services (for example, FAA resources, embedded videos, or social media). This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party sites, and we encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party site you visit.
11. International Users
The Service is hosted in the United States and intended for users located in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those of your country of residence.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice (such as an email notification or a prominent notice on the Site). Your continued use of the Service after any changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
